JDA LIBRARY
UPDATED NEWS
The library is now getting bigger and better than ever and has recently been amalgamated with the library of the North London Deaf Children’s Society. The NLDCS kindly donated all their books to the JDA Library, which are in the process of being catalogued and will be put on the shelves in the near future.
Jean Wells, our lipreading tutor, also kindly donated some books on hearing loss which will be useful for our lipreading students and those who became deafened in later age.
Martin Binysh has given some books, including the comprehensive volumes of the “Deaf History Journal” right from the first issue in April 1997 to now. The Journal is produced by the British Deaf History Society and contains very valuable materials of Deaf History along with interesting photographs and illustrations.
Many thanks to Martin, Jean and the NDLS for their gifts to the JDA library.
The library still stocks videos but we will not, in future, buy or receive new videos. We are now stocking up on DVDs or CD ROMs as most people will now have DVD players or computers.
We have an excellent range of books, magazines and videos/ DVDs. You are welcome to use this facility whenever you want. If you need a DVD or a book relating to Deaf /Jewish issue which is not on the shelf, please let Kay Kaufman, the Librarian know.
