DEAF QUIZ COMEDY NIGHT
24th November 2005

A SUCCESS! The third 345 Group event was an evening of fun entertainment at the JDA.

We held a Deaf Comedy Quiz Night - lots of fun questions and fun games, all releated to Deaf Culture.

30 people took part. They chatted over a food buffet and wine, until they were put into teams of three people.

The quiz was divided into different parts, using memory, visual clues, fingerspelling and of course individual knowledge of the Deaf Community. The game called 'Who am I?' showed distorted images of famous Deaf people and the teams had to identify them.

The winning team 'Mickey Mouse' consisted of Moshe Moshy, Shana grummitt and Mike Brine who all went home with First Prizes. The runners-up were Richard Weinbaum, Golda Dahan and Steve Fireman.

We thank everyone who took part in this fun evening and, as everyone enjoyed it so much perhaps we will do something similar next year.

345 BARBECUE

Sunday 19th JUNE 2005

FIRST 345 Group Event!

The first event was on Sunday 19th June 2005, that scorching hottest day of the year so far! - a group barbecue in Trent Country Park, Cockfosters.

Although it was very hot and humid, we managed to find a pleasant, quiet spot under the shade of the trees where it was much cooler - necessary for the hot and smoking barbecuing!

Barry and I arrived early that morning to grab our spot, as later on in the day, the park was very crowded with people having picnics and barbecues too... everyone was taking advantage of the glorious hot day!

345 people came along, and it was a lovely mix of old faces, new faces and some children.

Beefburgers, sausages and chicken kebabs were served along with bread rolls, coleslaw and relishes. A couple of people kindly brought along large bowls of salad for everyone to share, which made it even nicer, so our thanks to them.

Everyone enjoyed munching the food and refreshing fruit salad and apple pies were served for dessert afterwards.

Many of us brought folding chairs and tables and we all chatted and laughed and had a bit of fun with a water pistol squirting water all over each other. There was a lovely atmosphere - and because people brought along friends, it was especially nice to have the chance to meet some new Deaf people. This is one of the main aims of 345 Group and we really want to encourage people to invite their 'buddies' to join in our events. Today we got off to a great start!

After lunch Barry David organised some games on open parkland, which was enormous fun.

The event finished at around 6pm and, all in all, it was very successful and everyone enjoyed themselves very much. Now I am looking forward to the next event!
