HELLO
FROM THE LIPSINC COORDINATOR - JACQUI PRESS |
 |
In 2003, I began searching for young people aged 20 -
40 years old who, like me, have a hearing loss but have
been brought up in mainstream education and live "in
the hearing world".
It was amazing to meet up with other people with similar
life experiences to me. Everyone I met showed great
interest in meeting others with a hearing loss - most
of them had only mixed with hearing people throughout
their lives and had never met anyone who could relate
to their own experiences. We had so much in common!
LIPSINC has created a fantastic new opportunity for
meeting like-minded people. And the JDA has become a
valuable source of information to LIPSINC, as many of
the people had been unaware of the technology available
to them
and now they realise just how much easier
their lives can be! Many of the members' lives have
been enriched by all the doors that LIPSINC has opened
to them.
We are now on the lookout for new members - people
to join in our activities and outings, people to share
all the information we have at our fingertips, people
to get involved in our project teams and help organise
events and fundraisers, people to help us take LIPSINC
forward even further.
If you have a hearing loss, I think you'll find this
is an incredible group. If you're interested in knowing
more, or if you know anyone who might play a part in
LIPSINC, please contact me.
I look forward to meeting you!
Jacqui
