The Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor

On Sunday April 3rd, with our fingers crossed for some sunshine, our JDA group set off with Jo Ryan driving the JDA bus in the direction of Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury.

After an hour or so we arrived and of course the first thing we did was the 'toilet trek' followed by a 'nice cuppa tea'.

We then went for a walk around the beautiful landscaped gardens looking at the magnificent architecture of the Renaissance-style chateau built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild.

We had lunch in the only restaurant we could find which was very posh & expensive. We all managed to find some thing not too pricey on the menu except our very own Harry and Eddie who indulged in a full culinary experience!!!!

After lunch we had our own special sign language interpreted tour around the Manor with a guide . Wow!!! The Rothschilds really know how to shop!!! The enormous rooms are jam packed with opulent decorative art, ornate furniture, expensive porcelain, Savonnerie carpets, Gainsborough and Reynolds paintings and many more.

After that we were all so inspired that we went straight into the Gift Shop!

Following a wonderful 'Full English Tea' sitting out in the sunshine, we set off on a winding path to see the Rococo-Style Aviary and bird collection.

After an enjoyable day, we got back into the JDA bus and made our way back home.

Many thanks to Lisa for her wonderful organising of this day outing.
